Unique World Of Jago Ginger The core work of the youth theatre in 2004/05 contributed to the creation of ‘The Unique World of Jago Ginger’, This was a short piece inspired by our senses. Much of youth theatre work focuses on individual interpretation i.e. ‘what it is to be myself, and therefore myself in relation to you and to the rest of the world’. Synaesthesia is a condition wherein the five senses intermingle. For example, they see words written in colours, they experience tastes when they hear different sounds and can experience colour when they listen to music. Some people think that everyone is a little synaesthetic. Moreover, many people relate the condition to creativity. It is a popular thought that this is why artists have the ability of expressing the world in a communicable and yet visual way. The term kicked off with a ‘Sensational Senses’ day exploring Synaesthesia by looking at the relationship between our senses. This was led by our very own science communicator Natalie Ireland, who had us tasting bizarre coloured yoghurts and what pertained to be onion flavoured apple!
